Preschool and Kindergarten

First period - Circle Time - Tiffany Lowe

This class is a fun and engaging way to start the day by signing songs, moving our bodies, spending time with learning felt boards, and having show-n-tell.

Second period - Chemistry - Tabi Ward

In preschool chemistry, we will explore basic concepts of chemistry through interactive activities, demonstrations, and stories. 

​

Third period - Sensory Bins - Chelsey Ettiene

Preschoolers will explore a variety of sensory bins.

1-2

First period - Chemistry - Jenny Pichura

Students will explore matter, atoms, elements, and chemical reactions through reading living books and doing lots of hands-on activities!​

     

Second period - Story of the World (Ancients) - Mara Angelo

Children will study ancient history through story, crafts and activities

 

​

 

Third period, first semester - Life Skills - Lindsay Roman

 

Objective is to develop and practice  age appropriate life skills.

 

Third period, second semester - Sharyn McGeary - Literature Bubble

 

We will read aloud books together- in a huge tent!- and do a deeper study with fun activities that correspond with the book.

3-5

First period - Chemistry - Shannon Grinder

From play dough atoms, marshmallow periodic tables, and chemical reactions, this hands-on chemistry class will make learning new vocabulary and concepts loads of fun! ​

​

Second period, first semester  - Home Economics - Theresa Bloom

Our approach will focus on creating and re-creating in the home as we explore a wide range of activities including crochet, bike repair, table setting and manners, simple mending, and small electronics repair, as well as exploring principles of adhesives and materials in order to tackle a variety of day-to-day home repair projects that students may encounter.

Second period, first semester - Civics -- Leslie Hilliker

This class will teach students about the important interactions between our government, communities, and individuals. We will talk about our own civic responsibilities and look for ways to positively engage with the world around us. 
 

 

Third period, first semester - Literature Bubble - Betsy Flinner

 

A complete read aloud experience - in a bubble!  What is a bubble?  It is kinda like a tent, only 10x more fun.  We'll read some great literature and then interact with the stories with fun hands-on activities.

Third period, second semester - Speech - Melissa Rice

 

In this one semester class we will learn techniques to better our public speaking skills and to become more accustomed to speaking in front of a group. As a way to make this more enjoyable, we will create a "newscast" with the students playing roles such as the weatherman, health expert, traffic reporter etc. This will be recorded for the parents to see and for the students to see and critique themselves.

Middle school

First period - Chemistry - Jennifer Dymond

This year, we will begin by looking at atoms, molecules, matter, and the periodic table of the elements. We will move on to a more indepth study of the Scientific Method by conducting experiments in different areas of Chemistry. We will end the year by solving a Chem-Mystery!

Second period - Art of Argument - Meg Morton

 

Students will learn how to construct and evaluate an argument and learn principles of persuasion. Students will analyze the work of others and create their own written and oral presentations.

 Third period, first semester - Civics - Leslie Hilliker

Third period, second semester - Chess - Theresa Bloom

Regardless of prior exposure, students in middle school chess will learn the basic rules of chess as well as gain exposure to common strategies and tactics. In this predictive and risk-taking game, students will be able to practice what they learn with one another and will have the opportunity to observe videos of famous historical chess play with accompanying analysis.

Third period -- 8th Graders have the option to take Sign Language with the high school class.  See below for class description.

High school

First period (second period every other week for lab) - Chemistry - Cori DeRoza

High School Basic Chemistry with Lab. 1 credit hour

This class will be weekly with a second hour for labs every other week.

We'll be looking at God's creation and the elements that make up that creation. We'll get to know the periodic table, the Atomic Theory, study stoichiometry, the mole, matter, acids and bases, and more.

Some math will be involved throughout the year. Efforts will be made to ensure that students have a grasp on the math concepts. Basic Algebra would be a good basis, but is NOT required before taking the class. 

 

     

 

Second period (every other week) - Art of Argument - Leslie Hilliker

In this class, students will learn about logical fallacies and how to avoid falling for them, how to properly frame an argument, and how to successfully engage in debate and persuasive speech. (1/2 credit)

 

​

 

Third period - Sign Language - Kara Hartman

The goal of this class will be to start from the basics of learning sign language to gain the ability for conversational sign language.  We will utilize lots of interactive games and activities that will force the students to use what they are learning.  This will be a one credit class that can be used towards fulfillment of language requirements.
